A Day in the Life of an MEE Volunteer

Morning Rounds

Your day begins with ward rounds, gathering patient information, and discussing overnight care with the team. You’ll present patients, gain insights from our medical officers, and ask questions to foster mutual learning.

Outpatient Responsibilities

After rounds, you’ll take on outpatient duties, such as primary care, urgent care, HIV and antenatal clinics, and vaccination clinics. You’ll also have time to explore individual projects pre-approved before your trip.

Evening Reflection & Cultural Activities

Evenings are reserved for reflection and cultural immersion. Participate in group discussions, local market visits, and activities to unwind and process your experiences.

Surgical & Emergency Learning Opportunities

Surgical procedures and emergencies may arise throughout the day, offering additional hands-on learning. You’ll also rotate night calls to gain exposure to critical cases.
